The winter 2009/2010 edition of British Bluegrass News is now available.
In it, there is a wide range of topics to enjoy.
The cleverly named Belgium-based band Sons of Navarone is the subject of the cover story. The quartet will be making a week-long visit to England in February for an anticipated six concert dates.
In addition, there are feature stories about bluegrass bands in Ulster, the Crocker Brothers and bluegrass humour and an article about promoting bluegrass music to young people.
Tom Adams shares some memories and presents a specially written banjo exercise for Pickin’ Parlour, a recently added column for bluegrass musicians.
A new, occasional, feature is the Songwriter Profile, which looks at the talents of David Rozzell of the band Wood, Wire and Words.
Among the regular features of the magazine, Pat Francis reveals his ‘Favourites’ and The Story Behind The Song looks at the origins of the gospel favourite ‘Amazing Grace’.
All this plus the usual What’s On, Tour details and 2010 Festival Dates, CD, concert and book reviews, Light in the Window, SmallTalk and the Area reports.
British Bluegrass News is published by the British Bluegrass Music Association (BBMA).
Besides BBN, the most visible asset that the BBMA has is its website www.britishbluegrass.co.uk . This is being made more user friendly and kept up to date. While work on this task is continuing, the site now enables on-line membership applications.
BBMA was founded in November 1990.
