2012 AGM
This year’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 12th May 2012 at Orwell Bluegrass Festival. Formal notice of the meeting will appear in Issue 60 of British Bluegrass News, due for publication at the end of March, but we’re putting this note on the website to give you early warning, so that you have more time to think about …..
NOMINATIONS TO THE COMMITTEE
Three posts on the BBMA Committee come up for re-election at this year’s AGM. If you are a member of the BBMA and are prepared to devote some of your own time and effort to furthering the aims of our Association, then please think about putting your name forward for one of these posts. Alternatively, if you know another member who could do a good job for us, but who is a bit reticent about putting themselves forward, please encourage their nomination.
The positions that we need to fill are
- Chairman. Doesn’t have to be a man, of course, but it does have to be someone with a vision for the future of the BBMA, and the energy to drive that vision forward. A bit of a presence in the UK Bluegrass scene helps with the Association’s visibility, and experience of herding cats, whilst not essential, can be useful! The main thing, though, is enthusiasm for Bluegrass in the UK, and the ability to transmit that enthusiasm both inside and outside the BBMA.
- Secretary. This job involves the usual secretarial stuff – arranging meetings, writing minutes, keeping records. A modest level of computer literacy is useful, but nothing more than basic word processing and spreadsheets. The current Secretary, John Revell, will be standing for re-election, but there’s no reason why he should be unopposed. We’re all for healthy democratic competition - give the voters a choice!
- Treasurer. Guardian of the Association’s cash, and manager of our bank account. We’re not looking for a trained accountant, but you will need a working familiarity with spreadsheets and a disciplined approach to the keeping of records. Sherryl Payne, our present treasurer, will be standing for re-election this year, but she too is not afraid of competition.
Nominations for any of these posts must be with the Secretary no later than 14th April 2012, and must be signed by the candidate and by a proposer and seconder. (If submitted by email, it will be sufficient for all three to be addressees on the email). Send your nominations to secretary@britishbluegrass.co.uk or by post to:
